A CRANE AND A DOG
In the bush, by the edge of a paddy filed, lived a crane. Every morning, the crane would go to the paddy field to look for food. It stayed there till late evening. Then only it returned to its nest in the bush.
The planting season would be its favourite time. At this time the paddy field would be filled with water. Therefore, small fish would be swimming around and that would provide the crane with a lot of food.
When the filed dried up, the crane had to fly somewhere else to look for food. Luckily there was a swamp nearby. That was the routine of its life. Practically, it was leading an easy life.
"I feel so lonely. I've no friend. I've been living alone for such along time. I need someone to talk to," thought the crane one day.
The next day, the crane went wandering a little bit far away from its nest. Its intention was to find another crane to make friend with. But it could not find any other crane or even other bird to make friend with.
"Oh! I'm so unlucky!" thought the crane. "There is no other bird living in this area," it sighed sadly. It flew back to its nest in disappointment.
One day, the crane saw a dog wandering beside the paddy field.
"Hei Doggy! Where are you going?" asked the crane.
"Oh, it's you crane. Nowhere," answered the dog.
"Then, why do you come here?" asked the crane curiously.
"Well, I'm just strolling around while enjoying the beauty of the countryside," answered the dog.
Oh! It is so," said the crane.
The next day, the dog once again went to the place. "I think I'll make friend with the dog. I won't be so lonely any more," the crane thought.
So the crane went to see the dog. It told the dog that it never had any friend before. "Would you be my friend?" asked the crane.
"Oh, I feel sorry for you. Well, I would be glad to be your friend," answered the dog.
The crane was so happy to hear that. Since then, they became close friends. Every day, they would be seen talking and playing together. The crane was very happy indeed.
One day, the dog invited the crane to his house. "We have been friends for a long time. I would like to invite you to come over to my house," said the dog.
"That's very kind of you. I'll go to your house tomorrow," said the crane.
Early in the morning the next day, the dog went to fetch its friend the crane to go to its house. As soon as they arrived at the dog's house, the dog served a plate of rice to the crane.
"Come, let's eat," invited the dog.
"Thank you," said the crane.
But the crane could not eat the rice. Its long beak was not meant for eating something out of a plate. It tried hard but still it could not eat the rice.
"Doggy purposely serves rice on a plate so that I can't eat it," thought the crane.
After a short while, the dog realized that the crane could not eat out of a flat plate.
"Oh, I'm so sorry my dear friend but I do not have any other pottery. I don't know that you cannot eat from a plate," the dog apologized.
"Oh, it's alright. I'm not hungry," said the crane. Actually, the crane was very hungry and because of that, it was angry too.
The crane returned home with an empty stomach and full of anger.
The next day, the crane invited the dog to come over to its house. "My dear Doggy! Yesterday, I went to your house. Now, it is your turn to come and visit me at my house. Would you come to my house tomorrow?" invited the crane.
"Sure! Tomorrow I'll go to your house," said the dog.
The following morning, the dog went to the crane's house. As soon as the dog arrived, the crane served him some food. The food was served in a bottle with a long narrow neck.
"Let's eat," invited the crane.
"Thank you," said the dog.
The dog tried to put its mouth through the narrow neck of the bottle. No matter how hard it tried, but its mouth could not reach the food.
The dog could see that the crane was enjoying its food. Its long thin beak could easily reach the food in the bottle.
The dog then realized that the crane purposely served the food in a bottle as to payback what the dog had done to him. "Oh, this crane has a bad heart," thought the dog.
When it had finished eating, the crane asked, "Why don't you eat. Is it because the food is not tasty?"
When it heard that, the dog replied, "Mr. Crane! You have a very bad heart! You purposely did that to avenge what I had done to you. I had already apologized to you for serving you food on a plate. I was so sorry but you did this on purpose," said the dog.
Then, the dog returned home. Since that day, he did not make friend with the crane any more.
On the other hand, the crane felt ashamed of what it did to the dog but it was too late. Because of that, the crane moved to live at another place.
MORAL VALUE We cannot run away from making mistake. Allow some rooms to forgive and forget. Don't be afraid to admit your mistake quickly ask for forgiveness once you realize your mistake.
Do not inculcate the feeling of anger and take revenge when someone sincerely apologized for his or her mistake.
Be sensitive to the needs of your friends and it is important to know what they like and don't like.

RENDANG AYAM
Bahan-bahan:1 paket 30g rempah rendang.
1 ekor ayam (dipotong 12).
1 biji kelapa (diambil santan).
3 inci lengkuas (ditumbuk halus).
1/2 biji kelapa parut (ditumbuk halus).
10 sudu besar kerisik.
3 helai daun kunyit (dipotong halus).
2 helai daun limau purut.
3 batang serai (diketuk).
4 batang serai (dipotong nipis).
1 inci halia (ditumbuk).
15 sudu besar minyak.
100g biji gajus (digoreng).
5 sudu besar air asam jawa.
Garam dan gula secukup rasa.
Ditumbuk:
1 inci kunyit hidup.
15 biji bawang merah.
2 biji buah keras.
Cara Membuat:
- Panaskan minyak. Tumiskan lengkuas, tiga batang serai, dan halia hingga naik bau.
- Kemudian masukkan rempah dan ayam. Masak sehingga 1/4 masak.
- Masukkan santan, kerisik, kunyit, bawang, buah keras, air asam jawa, garam, dan gula sampai 3/4 masak.
- Kemudian masukkan kelapa parut, daun kunyit, empat batang serai, dan biji gajus.
